Seventh District Tots Program - Meet the Staff

Leanne Strouth, Teacher & Director

My name is Leanne Strouth.  I started with the Tot’s program as the 3’s teacher in the fall of 2014.  After my first year I was asked to take over as the director.  I am currently teaching both the 3’s and 4’s classes.

Let me start by telling you a little about myself.  I was born and raised here in the Hereford Zone. I’m a proud graduate of HHS class of 1999. I have been married for almost 15 years and have 5 children.  I earned my 90 hours of early childhood development in 2001 and my 45 hours of infant and toddler development in 2009.  I have over 12 years’ experience in childcare.  I have worked with children as young as 6 weeks to middle school age.  After taking a 4 year break to raise my children I returned to teaching in 2014.

My goal as a teacher is to prepare my students for the future as well as making their transition into the school environment as easy as possible.  At Tots we believe that every child is different.  We strive to encourage the growth of our students in all areas of their development.  We believe that teaching independence and supporting their social skills are just as important as learning educational tools.  All these things combined with fun, love and understanding will ensure success for our families as they enter the next chapter in their child’s education.

Rhonda Bateman, Teacher's Assistant

My name is Rhonda Bateman and this is my eighth year with the Tots Program. I am the Teacher's Assistant and work with both the 3 and 4 yr olds. I grew up in the Hereford Zone and live just over the line in Pa with my husband and 3 teenaged children. In addition to Tots,  I am employed with the Southern York County School district. I have worked with children for about 14 yrs. I attend 6hrs of continuing education in childcare development per year.

I thoroughly enjoy working with the children in our Tots program. To see these little ones learn and grow over the course of the school year is very rewarding. From learning to write their names to learning our daily schedules and jobs, this program has many things to benefit your children. The fact that our program is in the 7th District Elementary School itself is a bonus. Tots children have an opportunity to experience different parts of the school, such as the library, playgrounds and cafeteria on different occasions. We are sometimes able to attend assemblies in the school and do have a turn to lunch in the cafeteria. I think the well rounded learning atmosphere found here at Tots is a wonderful experience for the children. We play, learn, create, cook, share, and imagine everyday. I also think I get as much out of it as the children do.
